Just a couple of days back Fakhar Zaman created another record as he became the first batsman from Pakistan to smash 200 runs in an innings in the previous game at the Queens Sports Club.
Zaman, the 28-year-old opening batsman, made his ODI debut just over a year ago, in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, and made an immediate impact, smashing 252 runs in just four innings, including a 106-ball 114 in the final against India, which Pakistan won by 180 runs. He hasn’t stopped piling on the runs or breaking records. During the course of the ongoing series in Zimbabwe, Zaman had recorded scores of 60, 117*, 43*, 210* and 85 to the latest innings.
Fakhar Zaman said in 4th ODI match,
“Thanks to almighty. Imam played really well in the start and he supported me well. I think today was my day. I knew about Saeed’s record. Mickey (Arthur) told us before toss that if we win toss we are going to bat and he asked me to score a double ton. He was telling me the same thing two days before as well,”
“Imam is playing really well and he keeps talking to me whenever I feel not comfortable. We play together in domestic cricket. I was feeling tired in the field and hopefully I’ll get some treatment from the physio. I’ll try not to give them (middle order batsmen) the chance in the next game,” said an elated Fakhar.
On the other hand, Pakistan has completely dominated Zimbabwe. They are leading by 4-0 in the five-match series. Consequently, Sarfraz Ahmed-led team will like to clean sweep the depleted Zimbabwean side.
