Chris Gayle takes impossible one-handed catch in final of Global T20 Canada

Chris Gayle’s best years may be behind him but the big-hitting opening batsman has pulled off one of the best catches in recent memory during the final of the Global T20 in Canada.

Playing for Vancouver Knights against West Indies B, Gayle was fielding at first slip to the bowling of Australian leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed midway through West Indies’ innings.

Batsman Kavem Hodge went back to cut, but only to get a thick edge that went to the left of Gayle at first slip. Gayle dived and got his left hand to the ball, only for it to pop out. While he was sprawled on the ground, Gayle managed to roll over, catching the ball in his right hand.

“Oh he’s dropped it … oh he’s got it. Ridiculous,” was the call from commentator Dean Jones.
“Absolutely ridiculous Chris Gayle.
“You cannot do that.”
Gayle's side went onto claim victory in the final, beating the West Indies B side by seven wickets in the final of the first Global T20 series in Canada.

Gayle could only manage two runs in his innings, but Rassie van der Dussen (44*) and Saad Bin Zafar (79*) ensured Vancouver chased down their opponent's total of 146 midway through the 18th over.

Regardless of how you feel about Chris Gayle's attitude, you have to appreciate the skill of the catch.
